Add some STEAM to your PE or recreational program! Challenge students to work together to create a sled using cardboard and duct tape, which they will then use to race the other team through a simple track or obstacle course. This is a great team building activity and can even be used for your upcoming Field Day events.
To Get Started:
Divide students into teams of 4-7
Determine if you are going to use a Team Pull Hardness or a Rope for students to pull the sleds.
Each team can determine how their sled will be pulled. Teams can have the rider of the sled simply hold onto the harness or rope, or the harness or rope can be secured to the sled.
Combine STEM and art to make STEAM with our new Code a Keychain! For this activity, you will learn how to use the binary coding system while creating a keychains. Kids can “code” their own initials using black and white beads following the binary code. The EduCraft® instruction includes information about coding and more. This comes in a pack of 24 and is great for the classroom and afterschool.

Engineering with Craft Sticks, Cups, Cubes, and Keva Planks
I wanted to give our customers something they could bring to their programs within budget and allow the maker approach to take flight, while supporting their need to include high level STEAM concepts within budget. Offering simple challenges with visual supports helps instructors teach concepts in engineering, introduce the color wheel, physics, and chain reactions. These challenges were inspired and modified from Pinterest and a blog entitled Frugal Fun for Boys.
