A homeschool mom from Florida shared with us how she used our Unfinished Wooden Keel Boat to teach a lesson on Lewis & Clark.
“I am a homeschool mom and I group teach in a co-op organization. I am teaching Lewis and Clark this semester to 3-5 graders and am a very hands-on teacher. When we studied the type of boats Lewis & Clark went up the Missouri on, I decided I wanted the kids to make a keel boat. I went online to get ideas on how to do this and found this kit. It was so inexpensive and was exactly what I wanted. I was a little leary that it would be missing parts, or be VERY cheap, but I was quite surprised and pleased. The kits were perfect, easy to put together, and made of real wood. We just added drops of our own wood glue and we taped the masts, since they didn’t stay on without help. But those supplies I already had. All in all, I was very happy with the purchase, and the students had a great time building them!”

Can you star the link to where you bought the kit?
Hi Barbara, we don’t sell that exact wooden boat anymore, but I updated the blog post to include links for a few options we do have. The best option is likely the wooden ship craft kit – it is technically a pirate ship but can be modified during assembly to not include the pirate sticker and paint it different colors. https://www.ssww.com/item/pirate-ship-craft-kit-GP1690/
