Every October, millions of students, families, and communities come together to celebrate Lights On Afterschool, the nationwide event that highlights the importance of afterschool programs. From hands-on learning to safe spaces for kids to thrive, this annual celebration shines a spotlight on the powerful role afterschool plays in keeping kids engaged, inspired, and supported.
Organized by the Afterschool Alliance, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide rally for afterschool programs, with thousands of events taking place across the country. It’s a moment for educators, families, and program leaders to showcase the impact of afterschool opportunities while raising awareness about the need to keep these vital programs accessible for all.
To help programs host a meaningful celebration, we’ve teamed up with the Afterschool Alliance to create the Lights On Afterschool Easy Pack. This all-in-one kit provides activities, decorations, and resources that bring communities together, making it simple to host an event that’s both fun and memorable.

Lights On Afterschool Event Pack
The Lights On Afterschool Pack was developed in collaboration with the Afterschool Alliance, a national nonprofit committed to ensuring all children have access to quality afterschool programs. Each year, the Alliance leads the Lights On Afterschool celebration, the only nationwide rally for afterschool programs, shining a spotlight on the vital impact these programs have on students, families, and communities.

• 100 Mini Velvet Art Posters - Kids can unleash their creativity as they color these soft-textured posters, then proudly display their masterpieces as part of the celebration.
• Gratitude Garland Kit - Includes enough links for up to 500 children to write and share thankful messages. When connected, the garland forms a powerful chain of positivity that highlights the spirit of community.
• Toss & Talk Ball Game - Packed with 80 fun movement prompts, this activity gets kids tossing, catching, and acting out silly challenges. It’s a perfect way to spark laughter, boost energy, and keep the celebration active.
• Collaborative Color Me Puzzle - Each child decorates their own puzzle piece, and when assembled, the pieces form a striking mural. This hands-on activity represents teamwork and showcases the unique contributions of every participant.
