Looking for a great way to spike interest in volleyball? This STEM Volleyball program is a fantastic platform that is easy to implement, attractive to young players and features a standardized, turnkey curriculum that looks at the science, technology, engineering and math behind the great game of volleyball.
The STEM Volleyball program serves up strategic STEM-based activities with basic volleyball gameplay along with recent technological and engineering advancements that have enhanced the game.
This enables students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with eight different modules and lessons that volley around the game such as:
-Learning the science of force, acceleration and mass and Newton’s second law of motion
-Discovering the technology behind optimal serving speed
-Understanding the engineering design process and creating solutions to problems
-Using math to measure the area and perimeter of a volleyball court
-The net result of the STEM Volleyball program? Students will become critical thinkers, gain cognitive skills and deeper introspection…and not just during game play. They will learn life skills with transferable, real-life applications during their experience and they will really dig it!
This educational enrichment program is made up of eight (8) modules and worksheets that align with Next Generation Science Standards and/or Common Core State Standards and/or Standards for K-12 Physical Education. Each STEM Volleyball kit includes an easily administered teacher’s manual, as well as reusable sporting and science equipment for the program to be fully implemented. This pack includes everything needed (guide + all the unique equipment) except the volleyballs, which many programs may already own. 12 volleyballs, preferably 6 traditional and 6 light weight training volleyballs are needed to fully utilize this program.
