S&S Worldwide Step Pedometers (Pack of 12)

One-button pedometer counts steps up to 99,999. Push button resets to zero. Features a white plastic shell with permanent colored decal. 6 each with decals in red and blue. Pedometers feature a built in movement sensor that automatically turns the pedometer on or off based on movement or lack thereof. Uses (1) LR1130 1.5V cell type battery (included).

To calculate distance traveled:
1. Determine the length of your stride in feet or inches.
2. Multiply the number of steps taken by the length of your stride - this gives the total distance traveled in feet or inches.
3. To convert to miles –
a) Divide the number of feet traveled by 5280 feet / mile.
b) Or divide the number of inches by 63360 inches / mile.

To calculate calories burned:
1. Determine your weight in pounds
2. Assuming an average speed of 4 miles per hour or 1 mile per 15 minutes
calories burned =
Weight (in lbs) x distance traveled (in miles from above) x 15 minutes/ mile x .042 calories/lb/min
Example: 150 lbs x 1 mile walked x 15 minutes x .042 = 94.5 calories burned

Note: That the number of calories burned varies with the speed of walking. The faster you walk, the more calories you burn. The above formula provides a reasonable estimate.
