Father’s Day DIY Scrape Art with Acrylic Paint

Scrape Art is a new and fun technique used to create abstract art. It’s easy and requires just a few pieces of supplies and creates a unique design every time. Create you personalize scrape art for Dad following the simple steps below.

Instructions

Step 1: Gather your supplies – cover your work surface to prevent a mess due to the paint.

Step 2: Start by laying out your message with masking tape on the blank white canvas.

Step 3: Paint the entire canvas black with our Color Splash! Tempera Paint. Tip: Make sure to completely cover the sections where the message is laid out.

Step 4: Let the paint dry.

Step 5: Using your favorite paint colors, squeeze several dots (or lines) of paint around the canvas. We used lime green, metallic blue and neon pink for our design.

Steps 6: Using a ruler, firmly push down and scrape the ruler from one end of the canvas to the other.

Step 7: Let the paint dry.

Step 8: Peel the tape off to reveal your message!
