DIY Flower Painting Using String Pulling Method

Unleash your inner artist and create vibrant, flowers with this innovative painting pulling method. This technique, often referred to as “paint pulling” or “string pulling,” allows you to produce intricate, beautifully detailed floral designs with ease. Here’s how you can master this creative method:

Supplies Used

• Acrylic Paint 
• Canvas
• Paint Tray 
• Yarn (we used white yarn)

Instructions 

Step 1: Cut 8″ pieces of yarn. Cut as many pieces as yarn as you’d like for you design. 

Step 2: Lay the yarn in each of the paint trays. Tip: You can use more or less paint trays, depending on how many colors you would like in your design. 

Step 3: Pour paint on the yarn in each of the paint trays. Tip: The paint should cover as much of the yarn as possible. 

Step 4: Taking 1 piece of yarn at a time, lay the yarn on the canvas in your desired pattern form. Tip: Lay the yarn in swirled/ wavy form to create the flower effect. 

Step 5: Gather all the ends of yarn together in one hand.

Step 6: Slowly begin to pull the yarn towards you.
