If you’re looking for some Christmas themed activities for Sunday School, Bible School or any other religious group, there are many different fun crafts you can try! Here are 5 of our favorite items that can be used all year round and personalized for any holiday.
This is a great motivational and inspirational craft. The wooden Believe sign can be painted or stained, and you can even use gems or glitter to decorate. We painted the letters with red, green, and white acrylic paint and then added some designs with paint for a festive look. Discuss with your religious group why it is important to believe in God and have faith.
Our paper mache cross boxes make great Christmas gifts and can be used as a keepsake. Paint them with red, green, and gold acrylic paint with different designs. You can mix and match the colors for the lids and box. Add sequins like snowflakes or stars. For the multicolored box, we painted the lid black, then used glitter glue to make horizontal lines across the lid. Run a toothpick up and down the lid, spreading the glitter glue into a fun pattern. Then paint the sides with gold. You can also decoupage with decorative holiday paper. Here is a tutorial on how to decoupage these crosses: Paper Mache Christian Cross Trinket Box.
Baby Jesus – Adore Him Craft
This is one of our all time favorite Christian crafts for the holidays, made by our very own Crafty Kate! Using our wooden star hanger you can make this baby Jesus in the manger decoration. Paint the hanger white – it may need a few coats. Then draw baby Jesus with a pencil, and paint his face and blanket. For the manger, you can paint it brown, use jute, or glue construction paper and pieces of a cardboard box for a 3D look. We also painted the outside of the star yellow. Write “Adore Him” at the top with paint or marker. You can relate this to the song “O Come Let Us Adore Him” and discuss the importance of faith and Jesus to the Christmas holiday.
These wood ornaments come in a pack of 144, with 9 different designs! They have pre-printed lines to make them easy to color or paint. Also add red, green, silver or gold glitter or gems to make them even more holiday themed. This quick and easy craft is perfect for a religious group activity, and each kid or adult can hang the ornaments on the community Christmas tree after decorating. You can also host a Christmas Fundraiser or Church Fair and sell the ornaments to raise money.
This craft is for an older religious group of students or adults. The pack comes with 30 plastic canvas crosses. You can use yarn for a more entry level weaving project, or try it with cords, flosses, twine, jute, or hemp. It’s great for seniors to work on dexterity and fine motor skills. Use red and green yarn to make Christmas themed cross, and add a loop of yarn at the top to make it an ornament. The star bead also adds a pop of color.
Bead Crafts – Angels & Crosses
Our new angel bead ornament and cross bead ornament crafts come in packs of 24 projects. The angel is very small and comes with small beads, so it is best for ages 8 and up. It is a very cute craft – her wings are leaf beads, and her body is a heart. It can be used year round as a guardian angel! The crosses are a bit larger and easier, so they are recommended for 6 years and up. The instructions for both projects show step by step photos and are very clear and easy to follow.
