STEM Sports® Volleyball Curriculum Kit

The STEM Volleyball curriculum is designed to pair strategic STEM-based activities with basic volleyball gameplay and recent technological achievements that have enhanced gameplay. STEM Volleyball enables students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with modules centered around innovation and technology. With lessons built around calculating contact time, optimal serving speed, and the science behind serving, STEM Volleyball introduces students to fundamental aerodynamic laws and concepts – Magnus Effect and Bernoulli’s Principle – through the game they love. This educational enrichment program is made up of eight (8) modules and worksheets that align with Next Generation Science Standards and/or Common Core State Standards and/or Standards for K-12 Physical Education. Each STEM Volleyball kit includes an easily administered teacher’s manual, as well as reusable sporting and science equipment for the program to be fully implemented. This manual has two sets of lessons. One set for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, as well as another set of lessons for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

STEM Volleyball kits can be used numerous times over several years. In addition to the teacher manual, a single STEM Volleyball kit includes 6 Molten First Touch Volleyballs; 6 Molten Light Touch Volleyballs; 6 Molten Recreational Volleyballs; 1 Bushnell Radar Gun; 6 ribbon spools; 6 masking tape rolls; 6 tape measures (25’); weight scale; 1 fishing line spool; 1 box of 500 toothpicks; 1 package of 100 straws; 1 package of 100 latex Balloons; 2 Molten Ball Bags; 1 set of inflation needles; and 1 ball pump.
