Comments about Christmas Sleds Craft Kit (makes 100):

The instructions tell the kids to paint pieces then wait for them to dry before gluing together. Our kids got bored waiting and lost interest in doing the craft.

Comments about Christmas Sleds Craft Kit (makes 100):

Although this kit was advertised as a project for children, I bought these strictly for myself (years ago, and I was so pleased to find them again, as I plan to order more) I believe that as a kit for kids, your best bet would be to go for the idea of pre-assembling them, and then letting your young crafters paint them as they chose, except teens, who should be more than capable of assembling them on their own. Rather than painting the pieces and then putting each sled together, I chose to put them together and then paint. I also did the gluing assembly line fashion in a way, generally ten or so at a time, first putting together the flat sled 'top' together, then going back to the first to attach the runners of each sled and then finally going through the set again attaching the cross-bar. Once each sled is together, you do need to be careful not to snap the runners or cross-bar off again, but they're no more delicate than any other tree ornament, and handled at all thoughtfully, they last a long time, and painting the entire piece a solid base color further strengthened the piece, anyway. I had the most fun painting various designs on each ornament, going from extremely simple stripes and such, up to and including some fairly intricate pictures on the sled, and everyone I chose to give some to as gifts LOVED them, too. Oh, and as for the difficulty of attaching the gold cord 'steering' rope? I found a threaded needle with a slip knot at the end could be attached to the very end of the gold cord would usually pull it through fairly easily. the thread was then either removed or cut away and the cord knotted to hold it before the other end of the gold cord was pulled through the other hole the same way. Again, I usually did a number at a time, after all the painting was done and while the continuous recreating of the slip knot and attaching was a bit tedious, it wasn't really that hard.
