After creating our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/diy-egg-carton-flower-wreath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Egg Carton Wreath<\/a> a few months ago, we had a collection of beautifully cut egg carton flowers that were just too good to toss. With a little creativity, those leftover blooms became the perfect starting point for our next project.<\/p>\n<p>This Egg Carton Mobile is a colorful, whimsical decoration that\u2019s easy to customize and fun to assemble. Whether you\u2019re repurposing pieces from a previous craft or starting fresh, this project is a great way to transform everyday materials into a bright and cheerful hanging display.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Materials:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/paper-egg-cartons-PS1393\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Egg Cartons<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/paints-and-stains\/acrylic-paint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Acrylic Paint<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/paint-brushes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paint Brush<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/metallic-gold-stretch-cord-BE1350\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gold Stretch Cord<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/large-eye-needles-plastic-NE707\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Large Eye Needle<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Twig <\/strong>(alterative options are a<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/wood-dowels-36-l-WD7578G\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> wood dowel<\/a> <\/strong>or<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/drilled-wood-hanger-WE637\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wood hanger<\/a><\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile2top1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1118\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile2top1.jpg\" alt=\"Egg Carton Mobile\" width=\"347\" height=\"497\" \/><\/a>I love metallics so right away I knew I wanted to paint the twig gold and incorporate that throughout the rest of the project. I used our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/color-splash-metallic-acrylic-paint-set-PT3404\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gold Color Splash! Acrylic Paint<\/a><\/strong>, one coat actually covered the twig very nicely. Set aside to dry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile51.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1114 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile51.jpg\" alt=\"Egg Carton Mobile\" width=\"390\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next, since you probably don&#8217;t have leftover egg carton flowers, you will need to cut some. I used 14, but you can choose whatever number you&#8217;d like or think looks best. Once you cut out all the flowers, paint them. It looks nice to have some variety, so I used two different shades of pink, orange, and yellow. After the base color was dry, I dabbed on gold paint to create a gold leaf look. Set aside to dry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile61.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1116 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile61.jpg\" alt=\"Egg Carton Mobile\" width=\"436\" height=\"512\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Take a needle and poke holes through the center of each flower. A large eye needle creates the perfect size hole to thread the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/metallic-gold-stretch-cord-BE1350\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gold Stretch Cord<\/a> through.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Measure and cut five strands of the Gold Stretch Cord. I wanted to create a &#8220;V&#8221; look for my mobile, so to do this, cut the end strands the shortest and increase the length for the next strands in and make the center strand the longest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Tie all of your strands of Gold Stretch Cord to the twig. Make sure the length between each is even.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When adding the Egg Carton Flowers, start working one row at a time, from top to bottom. Tie a knot after each flower so that it won&#8217;t slide down. Try to make sure that the flowers in each row are all at the same height. If it helps, you can place a little mark on each string where every flower goes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1117\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/EggCartonMobile41.jpg\" alt=\"EggCartonMobile4\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Cut another strand of the Gold Stretch Cord (or any other type of string, I just used the same so it will match!) to use to hang your mobile.
