If you are looking for specific projects from\u00a0each country, then try out a few of the following projects that relate to the art and culture from the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re looking for a simple multicultural activity, consider using Around the World puzzles<\/a> featuring images of children from variuos foreign countries that seniors, art students, or any group can easily put together.<\/p>\n United States<\/strong><\/p>\n Provide your group with art projects that relate to Native American culture. For instance, use kits to make tepees<\/a>\u00a0and to paint totem poles<\/a>. Another option is to use supplies that you already have on hand \u2013 like tape and cardstock \u2013 to create a fun project like a Navajo rug. For the rug, simply cover a piece of cardstock with strips of colorfully designed Washi tape, alternating the patterns. Lastly, glue pom-pom garlands (pom pon beads<\/a> strung onto string) to the end of the two shortest sides to complete the rug.<\/p>\n Brazil<\/strong><\/p>\n Honor Brazilian artist Romero Britto, who uses vibrant colors to create fun, graffiti style pop art, by supplying\u00a0everyone with crayons and coloring journals<\/a> that can be colored in vibrant, bold colors like Britto\u2019s artwork.<\/p>\n In addition, since Brazil is known for its vibrant carnival season, provide your group with carnival masks<\/a>\u00a0that can be decorated with paint, glitter, and feathers<\/a>.<\/p>\n Guatemala<\/strong><\/p>\n As an art project, mimic Guatemala\u2019s beautiful and colorful textiles by providing a velvet collaborative quilt kit<\/a> for everyone to work together and color in bright, bold colors. For a more interactive Guatemalan project, pay homage to Guatemala\u2019s seven active volcanoes by supplying the group\u00a0with volcano-making kits<\/a>\u00a0to make and erupt volcanoes.<\/p>\n Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n Pay tribute to Mexico by making fun cultural art projects. In addition, because Spain is known for its beautiful tiles called azulejos, invite\u00a0participants to be creative as they make their own tile crafts<\/a>.<\/p>\n France<\/strong><\/p>\n With France known for its artistic influences from the great Impressionists, provide the group\u00a0with pre-printed\u00a0canvases<\/a>\u00a0for them to paint like the masters.\u00a0Since France is seen as a fashion mecca, supply\u00a0plastic headbands<\/a>\u00a0that they can color before wearing them for the day.<\/p>\n Japan<\/strong><\/p>\n Share the art of Japanese buildings with your group\u00a0as you provide them with a travel themed paint-by-sticker book<\/a> – the book also includes several other mutlicultural images!\u00a0Also, pay tribute to the Japanese cherry blossom trees by providing paper and brown watercolors for them to create their own cherry blossoms. For the trees, simply have them paint tree branches on paper before gluing on crumbled pieces of pink tissue paper to form a cherry blossom tree.<\/p>\n Russia<\/strong><\/p>\n Because one of the most beloved animals in Russia is the bear, which locals refer to as Misha, encourage\u00a0the group to decorate their own bears<\/a> using markers or paint.\u00a0Also, recognize the popular Russian nesting dolls, called Matryoshka, by providing either nesting bowls<\/a>\u00a0that they can decorate or by supplying them with wooden dolls<\/a>\u00a0that they can paint.<\/p>\n India<\/strong><\/p>\n Since animals are so important in Indian culture, plan a few art projects that involve these sacred beasts. For instance, provide everyone with bobblehead elephants<\/a>\u00a0for them to paint in bold colors that mimic the decorated elephants during India\u2019s Elephant Festival that occurs during the Holi festival.<\/p>\n In addition, pass out ceramic cow banks\u00a0<\/a>for participants\u00a0to decorate, as well as tiger frames<\/a>\u00a0– honoring India\u2019s national animal, the Royal Bengal tiger – to paint with glass stain<\/a>.
