Fuse beads <\/a>(or hama beads as they are sometimes known) have been around since the beginning\u00a0of time. Ok maybe not that long, but definitely since I was a little girl crafting\u00a0at my mom\u2019s kitchen table in Michigan. I\u2019m always delighted to see how crafters\u00a0remix and reinvent this beloved craft staple. From jewelry to bike bling, it\u2019s amazing how\u00a0many things these little guys can come together to make! Teamwork, am I right? With a little help from mom and dad, older kids can make geometric\u00a0chevron pendants (left), while the littles work on simpler threaded versions (right).<\/p>\n

Let your crafty colors fly! I love this American flag design (I\u2019m a sucker for all things red,\u00a0white, and blue), but there are so many other fun ways you can use beads to deck out\u00a0your bike. How about a personalized nameplate, for example!? Willow Day gives an awesome\u00a0tutorial on how to use fuse beads to customize your kiddo\u2019s ride.<\/p>\n

Fuse beads will forever hold a special place in my craft closet, and seeing crazy creative\u00a0uses for these little pieces of my childhood makes my heart so happy. If you don\u2019t\u00a0know where to start, I\u2019d recommend a jumbo bead bucket<\/a>, ironing paper<\/a>, and a fuse bead\u00a0activity pack<\/a> (complete with all sorts of fun shaped reusable pegboards). Together these\u00a0will launch you into the big brave beading universe!<\/p>\n
