All you need are some plain white bandanas, a tie dye kit, and Elmer&#8217;s school glue gel. We all treat our pets as family, so why not make a personalized craft to show your dogs how special they are? I love this tie dye bandana idea, and it can be used for any occasion!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/color-splash-easy-tie-dye-kit-FA3452\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Color Splash!\u00ae Easy Tie-Dye Kit<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/white-bandanas-CM166\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White Bandanas<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Elmer&#8217;s\u00ae Blue School Glue<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4771 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Materials-for-National-Dog-Day-craft-e1464712424216-1024x8551.jpg\" alt=\"National Dog Day craft\" width=\"584\" height=\"488\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Wash the bandana before tie dying. It&#8217;s best to iron the bandana\u00a0to eliminate wrinkles and make the fabric easier to work with.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Choose your design. I chose a pawprint and my dog&#8217;s name, Brody. It&#8217;s best to print out the designs\u00a0you want to use, so you have a guideline. I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=paw+print&amp;hl=en&amp;biw=1920&amp;bih=955&amp;site=webhp&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwiU3YLB3ITNAhWBeT4KHYAIDI4Q_AUIBigB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pawprint clipart<\/a>, then typed the name Brody and cut them out.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: You will need to put a clear barrier in between the printed design and the bandana, because the glue will seep through and you want to avoid the paper sticking to the bandana. A paper protector sheet\u00a0works well.<\/p>\n<p>Step 4: Using the glue gel (regular Elmer&#8217;s glue will not work),\u00a0trace the designs. Be sure to use plenty of glue to cover the design. Anything you cover with glue will be white after you tie dye. Let the glue dry overnight.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4781 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/National-Dog-Day-craft-paw-print-1024x5761.jpg\" alt=\"national dog day \" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/National-Dog-Day-bandana-craft-glue1.jpg\" alt=\"National Dog Day bandana craft\" width=\"584\" height=\"370\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 5: Carefully rinse the bandana in\u00a0warm water and wring it out so it&#8217;s\u00a0not dripping. Damp fabric will absorb the dye much more easily. NOTE: The glue will start to look and feel a bit rubbery as it gets wet.<\/p>\n<p>Step 6: Now you can tie dye your bandana! Be sure to wear plastic gloves. I used our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/color-splash-easy-tie-dye-kit-FA3452\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Color Splash!\u00ae tie dye kit<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>which makes it super easy to tie dye.\u00a0Choose the colors you want to use, and add water just as the instructions indicate. I mixed green and blue together. Be sure to use plenty of dye and saturate the whole bandana. You will see the glue turn the color of the dye, that is okay. Put the finished product into a bag and seal it. Be sure the glued section is on top and not covered up. Let it sit for 12-24 hours.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4783 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/National-Dog-Day-Craft-tie-dye-1024x5881.jpg\" alt=\"national dog day tie dye\" width=\"584\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p>*For tips on how to tie dye, visit our <strong><a href=\"\/blog\/tricks-and-tips-for-tie-dying\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tie dye blog<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Step 6: Rinse the bandana in cold water to remove the excess dye. Then rinse it in warm water until the water runs clear. The glue should start to dissolve away. Make sure you wash off all of the glue. Your design will show up in white!<\/p>\n<p>Step 7: Hand wash the finished bandana and iron again. Now your\u00a0pet\u00a0is ready to wear it for National Dog Day!<\/p>\n<p>Look how\u00a0handsome Brody looks!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"noborder aligncenter wp-image-4786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/National-Dog-Day-bandana-21.jpg\" alt=\"National Dog Day bandana craft\" width=\"750\" height=\"491\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can make these for any holidays or occasions. Our favorite design is still tie dye!
