Quick Hands is an excellent game to play at the beginning of the year or after a long break because it assesses my students\u2019 ability to respond immediately and appropriately to directions given. I was assessing how well my S were immediately and appropriately responding to directions given. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LA_HPERD?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LA_HPERD<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JPschools?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JPschools<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Physed?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Physed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/I0afudqfPB\">pic.twitter.com\/I0afudqfPB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; BA St. Ville PE Department (@StVille_PE) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StVille_PE\/status\/1346601423119802376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Activity Instructions<\/h2>\n<p>When I see that all students are in ready position with their object in front of them, I ask them, \u201cAre you ready?!\u201d They all respond, \u201cBring it on, Coach!!\u201d I then call out a body part such as shoulders, knees, toes, head, etc. When I say a body part, they touch that body part with their hands. You can get as silly as you want. Sometimes I will also say, \u201chair, eyes, mouth, big toe, or tooth\u201d. Sometimes I will say the body parts really fast or really slow or change the cadence in my voice.<\/p>\n<p>When I say the word, \u201cball\u201d or \u201cgrab\u201d, students reach down as quickly as they can, grab the object, and hold it up.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the grade level and class, I will ask for a volunteer to come up front and be the leader. It is amazing how creative and tricky students try to get with their classmates. They must turn around and grab the object when the word \u201cBall\u201d or Grab\u201d is said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>One vs. One:<\/strong> Students are facing each other. The student who grabs the object first, wins.
