One of our favorite upcycled crafts is this flower wreath using leftover egg cartons. This is perfect for the spring season. We love this activity also because your group can get creative with what materials they use. We decided to add burlap, a bow, and a personalized letter &#8211; kids can use the first letter of their name, or this wreath also makes a nice gift idea for birthdays or Mother&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/paper-egg-cartons-PS1393\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Egg Cartons<\/a>\u00a0(in case you don&#8217;t have any)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/self-adhesive-chipboard-wreath-ring-PE2209\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Adhesive Wreath Ring<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/paints-and-stains\/acrylic-paint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Acrylic Paint<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/basic-craft-supplies\/glue-and-tape\/glue-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Glue Gun<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/weaving-yarn-and-lacing\/knitting-and-crocheting\/yarn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yarn<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/scissors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scissors<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Burlap or wide ribbon\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using our round wreath rings, wrap burlap ribbon or any type of ribbon you choose around the wreath. These rings are adhesive, but depending what material you use, you may still need to glue it into place as you go. You may want to wrap the burlap around twice, so you can&#8217;t see the cardboard underneath.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively you can use our jute rope wreaths that are already wrapped, and then you can skip this step!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-176 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath31.jpg\" alt=\"wreath3\" width=\"373\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath31.jpg 373w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath31-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath31-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath31-301x300.jpg 301w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To create your flowers, you will need a good, sharp pair of scissors. Cut out about 10-15 flowers. Then cut out a thin strip from the egg carton and twirl it into a spiral to place in the center of the flower.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-179 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath4.jpg\" alt=\"wreath4\" width=\"381\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath4.jpg 381w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath4-300x254.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath4-354x300.jpg 354w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 381px) 100vw, 381px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Paint your flowers with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/arts-and-crafts-supplies\/paints-and-stains\/acrylic-paint\/?fp=PT3127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">acrylic paint<\/a> with any of your favorite colors and then set aside to dry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/wreath6-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"wreath6\" width=\"380\" height=\"277\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once all of your flowers are dry, you can start to glue them onto your wreath. We chose to cover about half of the wreath with flowers, so that other embellishments could be added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-181 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath1.jpg\" alt=\"wreath1\" width=\"439\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath1.jpg 439w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wreath1-295x300.jpg 295w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can then personalize your wreath with letters! For a quicker craft, use these wood letters and paint them any color you choose. Or, if you want a DIY idea that is also an upcycle craft, we used some scrap cardboard and made the letter K &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/ssww.com\/blog\/cardboard-yarn-letter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">see tutorial here<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-183\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/wreath10-300x233.jpg\" alt=\"wreath10\" width=\"380\" height=\"295\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also made a burlap bow &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/ssww.com\/blog\/simple-burlap-bow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">see tutorial here<\/a>! You can use any type of ribbon material for this. To give the bow a little more pizzazz and tie in the colors of the flowers, we put <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/sticky-back-felt-sheets-FA3383\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sticky felt<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/adhesive-gems-TR265\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">adhesive gems<\/a> in the center.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve completed your embellishments, glue them into place. Then glue some string to the back of your wreath so you can hang it up for everyone to see!
