{"id":1710,"date":"2015-10-07T17:32:51","date_gmt":"2015-10-07T21:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2019-07-12T10:58:19","modified_gmt":"2019-07-12T14:58:19","slug":"two-person-parachute-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/two-person-parachute-activity\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Person Parachute Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1712 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/parachute-activity-1-e14442530576191.jpg\" alt=\"parachute activity \" width=\"1959\" height=\"955\" \/>We are all familiar with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/search\/?browse_cat=SPFPAR&amp;origq=parachutes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">group parachutes<\/a>, but have you tried activities with two person parachutes?\u00a0Alyssa Dabbenigno, a Physical Education teacher from Virigina, shares with us this fun activity using our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/spectrum-team-connect-a-chute-pack-W9218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spectrum Connect-a-Chute Pack<\/a><\/strong> of parachutes as two person parachutes. Participants will learn to work together, practicing throwing, catching, and retrieving.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Two-Person- Outfield Scramble <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Divide the class into TEAMS, preferably teams of 4 (Example: Flyers, Eagles, Capitals, Nationals, and Pirates)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two members from each team will be selected to hold the Parachute.\n<ul>\n<li>Their job is to work together to \u201cCATCH\u201d the pop flies using the 2-person parachute. (The ball may not bounce or be rolled)<\/li>\n<li>Catchers may move side to side but can not cross the black line to get closer to thrower!<\/li>\n<li>IF they catch the pop-fly they must try to transfer the ball into the team hula hoop\/basket (as shown be hind catchers in images) WITHOUT using their hands! (each pop-fly is a \u201crun\/score\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>One member from each team will be selected to be the \u201cThrower\u201d.\n<ul>\n<li>Their job is to go through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pecentral.org\/lessonideas\/cues\/ViewCues.asp?ID=54\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">5 Steps of an Overhand Throw<\/a> using the parachute as their target. Staying behind the cone they may throw 1 pop-fly at a time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The last member of the team is the \u201cRetriever\/Ball-boy\/girl\u201d.\n<ul>\n<li>Their job is to run back to the bleachers where all of the objects (gatorskin balls, yarnballs, and rubber frogs) are scattered around. They may pick up one object at a time and RUN to the \u201cThrower\u201d. Hand them the object &#8211; DO NOT roll or throw.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After each round rotate the players! Everyone should get a chance to throw, catch, and retrieve!
