Our school participated in Take Your Parent to P.E. Week from September 24th through 28th. One of the lessons I chose to include was the Air Flow Lesson. This lesson was demonstrated by Chris Walker at an Open Phy Ed Training. The training was sponsored by Eat Move Grow Louisiana.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Air Flow is an activity that works on cooperation, communication, creativity and cardiorespiratory endurance. I have done this activity in modified forms with grades 1st-5th. The students has so much fun during the Air Flow lesson, that they are actually the ones who convinced me to include this activity in Take Your Parent to P.E. Week. So I need to give a HUGE shout out to my students.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>VIDEO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div style=\"width: 584px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-14813-1\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.ssww.com\/share\/Air_flow_activity_PE.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.ssww.com\/share\/Air_flow_activity_PE.mp4\">http:\/\/cdn.ssww.com\/share\/Air_flow_activity_PE.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">1 Donut-shaped polyspot per 2 students<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/item\/classic-flying-disc-9-W4499KR\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Frisbees<\/strong><\/a> (can use paper plates)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">10 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/search\/index.php?q=table+tennis+balls&amp;scope=narrow&amp;in_stock=true&amp;sort=best\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ping Pong or Tennis Balls<\/a><\/strong> per 2 students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The objective is to get as many ping pong balls as you can on the polyspot in 3 minutes (I say one song).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Start all students from the same side of the area of play. Place poly spot 20-25 feet away from the students. Students will have the frisbees and ping pong ball opposite of the poly spot. Students fan the ping pong on to the poly spot, without touching the ping pong. The ping pong must stop on the poly spot. If the ping pong is touched, the students must start all over. If successful, start another ping pong and try to get it to the poly spot like the first.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Modifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Use another type of ball (i.e. beach ball, golf ball, etc.)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Increase or lower time<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Use non-dominant hand<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Shorten or increase the distance of the poly spot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15126\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airflow-pe-activity1.jpg\" alt=\"airflow pe activity\" width=\"700\" height=\"474\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15127\" style=\"margin-top: 0.4em;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/pe-activity-airflow1.jpg\" alt=\"pe activity airflow\" width=\"700\" height=\"501\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thank you <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SSWorldwide?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SSWorldwide<\/a> for the ping pong balls.
