If you prefer, you can cut out all the different flower shapes and words and place in center of the table so that everyone can take what they want. You can also cut shapes out of the blank sticker areas, that can be colored.<\/p>\n<p>2) Use the colored pencils to color the stickers. Expand the soil pellets by adding\u00a01 cup of water for each pellet. Wait for expansion to occur. Add more water if the soil is too dry. Water soil so it is damp.<\/li>\n<li>Plant 2 to 3 seeds in each pot, following instructions on the seed packet.<\/li>\n<li>Measure and cut a piece of plastic wrap about 5&#8243; x 5&#8243;. Place plastic wrap over the top of each pot.\u00a0Secure in place with a rubber band.<\/li>\n<li>Place pots on windowsill with partial sunlight. Remove the rubber band and plastic wrap after the\u00a0seeds have begun to sprout (about 5-6 days). Keep soil moist.<\/li>\n<li>When plants are 1&#8243; tall, place pots in direct sunlight. Turn pots a little each day so the flowers\u00a0receive equal sunlight. Keep the soil slightly damp at all times.<\/li>\n<li>When the plants are about 5&#8243; tall, and the weather is appropriate outside, the plants can be\u00a0transplanted into a garden or larger outdoor pot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-33931\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2.jpg\" alt=\"zinnia garden craft kt\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2-220x124.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ssww.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/zinnia-garden-craft-2-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>How to Transplant<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Zinnias can be transplanted into a garden or larger pot but you need to be careful!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Several days before transplanting, set the flower pot outdoors in part shade that is protected\u00a0from winds for a few hours each day, gradually increasing their exposure to full sun and\u00a0windy conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the soil moist at all times.<\/li>\n<li>If possible, transplant on overcast days or in the early morning.<\/li>\n<li>Dig the new hole slightly wider than the current flower pot.<\/li>\n<li>Carefully hold the plants close to the soil and pull them gently out of the pot, with as\u00a0much of the soil with them. Don\u2019t shake off the soil! You want as much soil from the flower\u00a0pot as possible.<\/li>\n<li>Set transplants into the new hole, carefully move soil around so plants are set. Water till\u00a0soil is moist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>More About Zinnias\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Recommended for Beginners:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Zinnias are recommended for beginning gardeners and are annuals, meaning that they go from\u00a0seed to flower to seed quickly. Zinnias come in a range of every bright and pastel (except the blues),\u00a0plus bi-colors, tri-colors, and crazy-quilt mixes designed for cutting, to attract pollinators, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expand your vocabulary\u2026 with Zinnias<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wonderful language gets used when describing zinnia flowers: stars and daisies, dahlias and spiders, buttons and domes, and quill-leaf cactus. Flowers can be \u201csingles,\u201d with petals lined up in a row around an open center, or semi-doubles, or doubles. All work marvelously in floral arrangements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Save the seeds and plant them next year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to save zinnia seeds. Simply let the flowers dry fully on the stem, then collect the seedheads and lightly crush them in your hand to release next year\u2019s seed crop. Store in a cool, dry place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zinnias are Butterfly Magnets!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bigger-flowered varieties act like landing pads for nectar-seeking butterflies. (Same goes for\u00a0hummingbirds.) Place zinnia seeds on soil surface and lightly press into the\u00a0surface. Cover with 1\/4&#8243; of soil. Lightly water and cover with clear plastic or glass to keep\u00a0seeds from drying out. Seeds should germinate in 4 to 7 days.
