They seem like they will do well out in the heat as far as shading one's face and breathing well. But [...] there were pieces of straw sticking out making it look shoddy, and also some had what i think is a glue stain on them. Appeared as though someone got varnish on them in small streaks. Tired to clean it off, but barely made a difference.

Bought a whole bunch of these for a Western party to give out. What a hit ! Wish I had bought more. A very inexpensive way to give out a keepsake from a party. I searched the internet for prices everywhere and these are a real bargain.
