I was a bit disappointed at first, the plastic seem cheap, the sound was not very good. After a little bit of practice, it was better, but not as good as handbells. Overall, it's worth it's price.

My husband uses these for his drum circles with young children, and when I gave a pack to my daughter's dance teacher at the YMCA, it opened up a whole new range of "sound and movement" exercises for the class. sturdy, almost indestructible, and great for all ages. I've bought 4 packs so far... great for small and large group settings.

These did not make the sound that we expected. However they DO have diatonic tones. They were more difficult for the elders to use than we expected as well. However, making sounds INTO them with one's mouth..the residents got a hoot out of that!

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
