This product is nice once you figure out how to put it together. The instructions are not clear and the length of lacing to cut is too short for some pieces and not told for others.

We bought a set to try in Spring 2008, and found they were very poorly designed. The straps were too short -- the water bottle was in the arm pit. They were also difficult to put together because there were more holes on the side piece, than on the bottom piece, even accounting for overlapping the edges. So it was very difficult to match the holes up for sewing. We didn't buy these for our cub scout day camp. I did make pouches out of our test set to give away as raffle prizes. I didn't use the circular bottom piece, but overlapped the side edges, and sewed across the bottom to make cool-looking Native American pouches. I also cut some fringe out of felt, and inserted it into the bottom of the pouch before sewing. I further decorated the pouches with beads, and drew on a bear or moose with black permanent marker, using a clip art pattern. The pouches looked great when I was done -- the vinyl looks just like leather. The pouches were easy enough to put together that the boys would have been able to do them, but without the felt fringe (pushing a blunt tapestry needle through the felt would have been too hard.) Unfortunately, despite punching more holes lower down on the carry straps to make them a little longer, the pouch was still in the armpit, like a purse.

Used to carry water bottles, took a while to figure out which way was best for putting together. Sometimes holes did not line up correctly. Boys enjoyed once done. Is challenging for boys 7-10.
