P.E. Central Lesson Plan: Body Systems Project
Purpose of Activity:Students will identify, describe and diagram parts of various body systems.
Suggested Grade Level:6-8
Materials Needed:1; 6-8 foot pieces of bulletin board paper; 2; Scissors; markers; glue; crayons; white and colored paper; 3; Resource materials with diagrams for each system;
Lesson Plan:Description of Idea
The students are divided into groups of 4-5. Assign each group a body system (skeletal, digestive, respiratory, muscular, circulatory, etc.). Each group receives a 6-8 foot piece of bulletin board paper. One student lays down on the paper while the other group memberstrace the outline of his/her body. Once the body is traced, the students work cooperatively to diagram their assigned body system. Groups may choose to draw directly on the paper or cut and paste parts individually. You can make this project as detailed as you wish. You may have the group write a report and/or have them make a presentation to the rest of the class on their assigned body system explaining functions of individual and/or specific parts.
