P.E. Central Lesson Plan: Bring It In
Prerequisites:The students must know that the whistle means "STOP". The students must know that when they are gathered all students should be able to see both of your eyes. This assures that no student is beside or behind you.
Purpose of Activity:To gather the students when you need to talk to them during or after a physical education activity.
Suggested Grade Level:6-9
Materials Needed:A whistle (or any other "STOP" signal)
Lesson Plan:Description of Idea
When you want to gather students, blow the whistle and start counting aloud from ten to zero. You can use your fingers so they can have a visual also. By the time you get to zero all of the students should be in a position where they can see both of your eyes.
Remind them that if they can't see both of your eyes they are not in the correct spot. When students are gathered in this fashion it saves a lot of time. It keeps them close while you are talking, which increases the likelihood that they will hear you without having to yell.
