P.E. Central Lesson Plan: Fitness Cards
Purpose of Activity:To have the students physically active and to re-establish the concept of pacing yourself in an activity so that you can participate longer [mainly for physical fitness testing]
Suggested Grade Level:4th and 5t
Materials Needed:4 decks of cards [each deck having an "Explanation" card]; 4 cones; 8 jump ropes; 4 mats; 8 rubberband sets; 4 hand weights; 2 circle hoops; 4 hula-hoops; 8 small ball; **[The materials will specifically relate to the activities that you have put on own your explanation cards]**
Lesson Plan:Description of Idea
The students will be divided into 4 groups and each group will have their own station. At each station, there will be a deck of cards, an explanation card, and various equipment. The cards in the deck each stand for some type of activity described on the explanation card [For Example: Face value cards (A,K,Q, and J) each have their own activity and the numbered cards (2-10) the "suits" have an activity].
Each member of the group will be dealt a card and then they will perform that activity. When each member of the group finishes their activity, another card will be dealt. If a group finishes their deck before the teacher switches the stations, the group should shuffle and redeal to continue activity.
