P.E. Central Lesson Plan: Mickey and Minnie's Freeze Tag
Prerequisites:Ability to tag safely; ability to move safely through general space (avoid others); introduction to and practice in skills involved in running, walking, tagging, chasing, fleeing, and dodging.
Suggested Grade Level:1-2
Materials Needed:Mouse ears; 2 pairs of gloves; 2 crowns; and 25 cones;
Lesson Plan:Description of Idea
Two students, Mickey and Minnie, each have a pair of gloves on and a set of mouse ears. Two other students are Angels (wearing the crowns). Mickey and Minnie’s purpose is to tag (have everyone start out by walking first) and freeze the rest of the students that are moving around in the designated play area. Mickey and Minnie have magical gloves on that freeze the students. The students that get tagged are immediately frozen in the position they are in. The Angels move around and unfreeze the frozen students by placing the crown on their head. Change Mickey and Minnie every 45 seconds or so.
Vary the locomotor skills used.
