Purpose of Activity:
To gain practice in moving in time to a rhythm with a group.
Suggested Grade Level:
Materials Needed:
One parachute per group of children Recommended music: "Here We Go" by N'Sync (Self titled first CD) Beginning dance formation: Deflated parachute with students holding ridge; all are in a circle w/chute inside
Lesson Plan:
Description of Idea

On "Here We Go", spread out to full chute

1-8 inflate up

1-8 dome

1-8 Pull chute taunt at waist level

1-8 twist left and right with chute

1-8 make waves while hopping 2 times on alternating feet

1-8 repeat waves/hopping

1-8 walk in while shaking chute (4 cts); walk out while shaking chute (4 cts)

1-8 Repeat in and out pattern

1-8 walk clockwise

1-8 walk counter clockwise

1-8 walk clockwise

1-8 walk counter clockwise

1-8 inflate up (4 cts); pull taunt at waist (4 cts)

1-8 inflate up (4 cts); pull taunt at waist (4 cts)

Repeat entire dance (exclude the first "Here We Go" section)

On last time through, dance will end when circling counter clockwise the first time.
