P.E. Central Lesson Plan: Cool Noodle Tag
Suggested Grade Level:3-5
Materials Needed:Foam noodles cut to 1 foot lengths; One for each student;
Lesson Plan:Description of Idea
One or two students begin with a noodle (foam paddle). These students are the taggers. When the music begins they WALK and try to tag everyone who does not have a noodle. Remind students to tag others softly with the noodle and it must be above the waist and not on the head. If a student gets tagged, they walk over and grab a noodle from the piles outside of the playing area and join the taggers. As soon as everyone is a tagger (e.g., they have a noodle) except one, the teacher stops the music and says "the hunted now becomes the hunter". The one student who was left over becomes the tagger for the game that continues but is done a little differently. If you get tagged by the person without the noodle, students must put the noodle away and join the taggers. The game ends when there is one person left with a noodle.
