USED THESE FOR A FATHER-DAUGHTER GIRL SCOUT ACTIVITY--THEY HAD A BALL ASSEMBLING AND DECORATING. TRIED TO HAVE A RAIN GUTTER RACE--BUT BOATS WERE A BIT TOO WIDE (OR MAYBE GUTTERS WERE A BIT TOO NARROW)!

I scheduled this craft activity over several days to allow for paint to dry. Although there are specific steps and directions to complete this activity, its also leaves room for personal creativity. We completed the sailboats by personalizing the paper sails with individual names, in addition to adding little flage at the top of the pole. It was great seeing the diversity of all of the completed sailboats. This is definitely a worthwhile project.

THese are a little bit on the flimsy side, but did work for a regatta.

We used this product in Vacation Bible School, and even preschool age students were able to have a successful project with some assistance. Most of the pieces were well cut, and needed little to no sanding, although there are pieces of sandpaper included for each boat. A few dowels needed a little sanding in order to fit into their appropriate hole. I liked that the sail pattern was available online so that we could prepare the sails while we were waiting for the shipment of boats.
