Comments about How Does Your Laptop Computer Work? Kit (pack of 6):

During the school year I am a HS business teacher and I often teach computer courses. I ordered the laptop project to test it out! I was very disappointed when I found that the 5 or 6 internal components were not true to life (for example: the "hard-drive" was made to look like a circuit board with lines and little squares all over). However, I discovered that this "defect" could be used to my advantage when using this project as a teaching tool! I decided to make a mock "webquest" project - I planned to send my students to various websites to find what a real hard-drive looks like and then draw it on the back of the predrawn model! I found it relatively easy to find pictures of RAM, hard-drive, microprocessor, and the other included components. Furthermore I could assign that the students write two facts about the purpose of each component on the inside of each cardboard foldup piece. I almost think that the "defective drawing design" is a good thing because we can send our students on the hunt for the correct design and have them replicate it!
